    Wouldn’t it be great if ther were no public plan. I can’t think of any other way of getting Krugman to shut up.

    That could go either way, but it seems to me that par for the course would be for him to just pull a 180 and keep on going like nothing happened. Like this little debate between him and Mankiw.
